Éste fue sustituido por Ira Elliot, ex batería de los Fuzztones, consolidando así la formación que se mantiene hasta hoy.<br /><br />Matthew Caws pertenece a una familia de profesores universitarios, y habla varios idiomas. Su formación universitaria se observa en la calidad de sus letras. Durante los tres primeros discos de la banda ha utilizado siempre guitarras Gibson Les Paul y ningún pedal de efectos.<br /><br />Daniel Lorca, de familia madrileña pero afincado en Nueva York desde la infancia, se encarga de hacer la mayoría de coros en directo y utiliza el mismo bajo Fender Precision destrozado que recibió como regalo de sus padres a los 18 años. Sus líneas de bajo son melódicas, con claras influencias de la New Wave de los años 1980, y especialmente de New Order, cuyo tema Blue Monday han versionado a menudo.<br /><br />Ira Elliot tocó con los Fuzztones de Rudi Protrudi durante el final de los años 1980, y se caracteriza por unas partes de batería aparentemente simples, pero que apoyan mucho la canción y son fácilmente reconocibles como suyas. Dimos muy pocos conciertos y hubo largos parones.<br /><br />En enero de 2002, fuimos invitados por el portal de música Popmadrid.com a tocar en una fiesta en la sala Moby Dick . Después de vernos en aquel concierto nos fichó Rock Indiana, discográfica con la que grabamos nuestro primer disco, titulado "The Sunday Drivers". Éste primer LP salió a la venta en el mes de julio del 2002: son 11 canciones, algunas ya existentes en las maquetas, grabadas en los Estudios Brazil de Rivas-Vaciamadrid durante el mes de abril de aquel año, con Javier Ortiz como ingeniero de sonido y productor. Posteriormente, del disco se extrajo el single "Time, time, time" (febrero 2003).<br /><br />Para la grabación de los teclados que aparecen en "The Sunday Drivers", le pedimos su colaboración a Julián que, desde aquel momento, se convirtió en un nuevo miembro del grupo.<br /><br />A raíz de la publicación del disco empezamos a tocar más asiduamente; actuamos en algunos festivales (Espárrago, Lemon Pop, Supersónico, Autumn Almanac, Summer in the City ...) y en muchas ciudades. Sin duda, la primera mitad del 2003 fue muy importante para el grupo: primer puesto en el concurso de Jóvenes Artistas de Castilla-La Mancha, tercer premio en el Villa de Bilbao, acompañamos a los Jeevas y a Arlo en sus respectivas giras por España... en total, unos 100 conciertos en año y medio que tuvieron su colofón en el FIB de 2003.<br /><br />Después del verano del 2003 empezamos a pensar en grabar de nuevo. Y apareció Mushroom Pillow, nuestra actual discográfica. Con ellos emprendimos el proyecto del 2¼ disco, "Little heart attacks", que se publicó el mes de junio de 2004.<br /><br />El disco tuvo un proceso largo de elaboración: varios meses de preproducción y otros cuantos en el estudio. "Little heart attacks" lo grabó, mezcló y produjo JM Rosillo en su estudio de Madrid (Supersonic Lounge) durante los meses de marzo y abril. En la grabación le (nos) ayudó Ángel Medina. El disco fue posteriormente masterizado por Juan Hidalgo.<br /><br />Debemos destacar la colaboración en este disco de Lyndon Parish, amigo y músico galés que se encargó de los arreglos orquestales y vocales. Lyndon, que empezó como arreglista para la grabación, es ahora un miembro más del grupo.<br /><br />En el verano de 2004 comenzó la gira de presentación del disco. Fuimos a algunos festivales (Ebrovisión, Faraday, Fra de Alaquás, Medinasonora, F.M. Pop... y volvimos al FIB) y fuimos a ciudades de toda España.<br /><br />La gira se ha extendido mucho, hasta el verano de 2005: más festivales (B-Side Festival, Metrorock, Sonorama, Contempopranea, Pulpop...) y más ciudades. Un año exacto.<br /><br />De entre todos los conciertos, guardamos un recuerdo especial de nuestro paso por el Festival Transmusicales de Rennes (Francia): fue nuestra primera salida al extranjero. También recordamos con especial cariño el concierto en la sala Arena de Madrid y nunca olvidaremos la experiencia que supuso ser elegidos para telonear a Wilco en su gira española.<br /><br />El 26 de abril de 2005, la compañía francesa Naïve editó "Little heart attacks" en Francia y ya está siendo publicado en otros países europeos (Holanda. Grecia, Luxemburgo, Bélgica...). La acogida del disco en Francia ha sido excepcional, lo que nos permiti— tocar en varios festivales (Vieilles Charrues, Rock en Seine, Artrock, Les Mediterranées, Musilac Aix-les-Bains, JDM Festival...) y realizar una gira de tres semanas por toda Francia en octubre del mismo año.<br /><br />A principios de 2006 nos metimos en un proyecto muy ilusionante llamado Un-pop Classik: un total de 6 conciertos acompañados con una orquesta que nos llevó a algunos festivales en Francia, Dinamarca, Bélgica y que terminó en el Festival Internacional de Benicassim.<br /><br />Casi a la vez praparamos las canciones del nuevo disco, "Tiny Telephone", que grabamos en el estudio del mismo nombre en San Francisco (EE.UU). El disco tardó dos semanas en grabarse y fue producido por Brad Jones.<br /><br />Hubo también más conciertos, pero debemos destacar el que tuvo lugar en la Playa de Riazor (A Coruña) junto a Paul Weller en el mes de agosto.<br /><br />Si bien el disco se grabó en 2006, no fue hasta abril de 2007 cuando se editó tanto en España como en Francia.<br /><br />Ahora mismo estamos presentando el nuevo disco con una gira por todo el país; sabemos que arrancó el pasado junio con un concierto inolvidable en la sala Joy Eslava de Madrid pero no sabemos cuándo acabará. El grupo está integrado por: Cameron Bird, James Cecil, Gus Franklin, Isobel Knowles, Jamie Mildren, Sam Perry, Tara Shackell, y Kellie Sutherland.<br /><br />La mayoría de sus miembros pueden tocar múltiples instrumentos. La música de Architecture in Helsinki se caracteriza por una gran variedad de sonidos, obtenidos a través de medios electrónicos y por la experimentación con gran cantidad de instrumentos, incluyendo instrumentos de viento-metal, flautas, sintetizadores analógicos[1], samplers, un glockenspiel (también conocido com Lira), una tuba, un clarinete, un trombón, trompetas e instrumentos más frecuentes como batería, guitarra y bajo. Su último álbum, In Case We Die (2005) fue grabado con 41 instrumentos.[1]<br /><br />Architecture In Helsinki comenzó a tocar alrededor del año 2000, tocando frecuentemente en multiples giras nacionales y algunas internacionales. Comenzó a cantar en la iglesia a la edad de 4 años, donde -era lógico- tenía un talento digno de mención.<br /><br />En 1964 empezó a formar parte de la banda de Ike y Tina Turner como una Ikette y estuvo con ellos los siguientes dos años girando el famoso circuito Chitlin’. La experiencia le dotó de una profesionalidad patente por encima de sus contemporaneos. En 1966 Ike &amp; Tina Turner giraron por Inglaterra con los Rolling Stones y Pat y Mick Jagger congeniaron mucho. Él y su por entonces manager, Andrew Oldham, la convencieron para que se quedara en Londres y firmara para Immediate Rds. como solista.<br /><br />Fue entonces cuando fue rebautizada como PP Arnold y tuvo sus mayores éxitos “The First cut is the Deepest” y “Angel Of The Morning”, versiones ambas a las que aún hoy se la asocia y nunca han sido sobrepasadas. Aunque su primer single “Everything's Gonna be Alright" no fue un éxito en aquél momento, es ahora un himno northern soul muy buscado en single. Trabajó muy íntimamente con los Small Faces en ese tiempo, forjando una amistad con Steve Marriot que duraría hasta el dia de su triste muerte en 1991. también grabó con Rod Stewart, producida por Mick Jagger. Con The Nice como banda liderada por Keith Emerson (de fama posterior con Emerson Lake and Palmer), giró intensamente junto con gente como Small Faces, Jimmy Hendrix, The Who, Blind Faith, The Kinks, Chris Farlowe y muchos otros.<br /><br />Cuando Immediate se fue a la quiebra, ella firmó con Polydor Rds. y trabajo junto con Barry Gibb de los Bee Gees editando los singles “Bury Me Down By The River” y “Give A Hand Take A Hand“. Con su nueva banda en al que contaba con Ashton, Gardner &amp; Dyke y Steve Howe, que luego se fue para unirse a Yes, fue artista invitada abriendo los conciertos de Eric Clapton en su "Delany, Bonnie and Friends Tour" a principios de los 70. Entonces apareció con PJ Proby en el musical rock “Catch my Soul” qeu fue producido y dirigido por Jack Good.<br /><br />A mediados de los 70 conocío a Fuzzy Samuel, el bajista de Crosby, Nash, Stills and Young. Juntos tuvieron un hijo, Kojo, formaron una banda de funk-fussion llamada Axis y volvieron a vivir a Usa. Aunque sin grabar como solista se la puede escuchar en esta época en grabaciones de Humble Pie, Freddy King, Nick Drake, Manassas y Doctor John. Lamentablemente ella y Fuzzy se separaron y poco después su hija Debbie murió tragicamente en un accidente de coche. Devastada, Pat abandonó el negocio de la música mientras intentaba soportar su pena. Durante este tiempo apareció en bastantes series de drama para TV como "Quincy", "Knot’s Landing", "Fame" y "Father Murphy".<br /><br />En los ochenta empezó a grabar otra vez, trabajando con Peter Gabriel, Steve Marriot y Justin Haywood entre otros y en 1982 volvió una vez más a Inglaterra. En 1984 interpretó el papel de Belle The Sleeping Car en la cast original del musical “Starlight Express”. Firmo con Ten Rds., una subsidiaria de Virgin, y editó los singles “A Little Pain” y “Smile”. Trabajó también en la banda sonora de de la película “Electric Dreams”, editando un single del mismo nombre, y en la película para Cosmic Strip “Suppergrass” y en la de Virgin “The Inside Man”; ambas reslutando en la edición de los singles de cabecera.<br /><br />Justo antes de embarcarse en una gira con Billy Preston, tuvo un accidente de coche y debido a las lesiones tuvo que abandonar el proyecto. Encontrándose incapaz de de actuar en directo y sin un contrato de grabación, empezó a grabar música para anuncios de TV y su voz se puede oir en campañas de Levi’s, Coca Cola, Peugeot 405 y snacks Marathon. Este trabajo, por su parte la llevó a una colaboración con The Beatmasters y a la grabación de un single “Burn It Up” que llegó al nº 12 de las listas. Formó su propia compañía de producción Full Circle Productions y editó un single “Dynamite” que aunque no llegó a las listas fue un éxito en la escena de baile underground. Esto la llevó a colaborar con KLF, 3AM, Eternal y Atem8 pero este no era el lugar donde el corazón de Pat quería descansar y volvió al Teatro.<br /><br />Interpretó a Ena en el ensayo musical de “Sweet Lorraine” y entonces apareció como Erzulie, la Diosa Amor en el musical “Once Upon This Island”. Fue mientras trabajaba en el cuando Ocean Color Scene pidieron a Pat que colaborara con ellos. Ella aparece en el album “Marchin’ Already” y en dos singles “Travellers’ Tune” y “It’s a beautiful thing” y fue una de las artistas invitadas en su tour de 1998. También editó el single “Different Drum” que fue producido por Steve Craddock de Ocean Color Scene. En esas mismas fechas grabó el tema “Understanding”, con Primal Scream para el album Tributo a Small Faces.<br /><br />En abril de 1999 Pat formó una banda con Chaz Jankel y Tony Remy y llenó dos conciertos en el Jazz Café de Londres. Más tarde ese mismo año apareció en el tour “In The Flesh 1999” de Roger Waters por la Costa Este de USA y Canadá e hizo una aparición como invitada en la Small Faces Convention.<br /><br />El año 2000 le trajo un documental para TV titulado “If You Think You’re Groovy” y la aparición en el album de Oasis “Standing on The Shoulders Of Giants”. Una vez más giró con Roger Waters; esta vez “In The Flesh 2000” cubrió todos los USA. Su solo “Perfect Sense” era recibido con éxtasis allá donde aparecían.<br /><br />A lo largo de 2001 Pat continuó su colaboración con Tony Remy y comenzó a grabar mucho material nuevo. Trabajó con Chip Taylor y se editó un single de su dueto con él “Temptation”. El también acuñó una canción especialmente para ella titulada “Break These Chains”. Una vez más apareció como invitada en la Small Faces Convention<br /><br />Estuvo gran parte del 2002 estuvo con Roger Waters en su gira “In The Flesh 2002”. Ahora ya “Perfect Sense” se ha convertido en uno de los momentos del show esperados más impacientemente. Aparte de girar Pat empezó a escribir su inminente autobiografía, que ofrecerá una muy interesante lectura<br /><br />2003 vio la continuación de su biografía y más trabajo hecho con sus nuevas grabaciones. Pat ha girado Inglaterra con los Manfreds en su “Maximum R’n’B Tour 2003” donde brilló como la estrella del show.<br /><br />2004 será recordado como el año de la vuelta de P.P. Arnold a actuar cantando esas pequeñas gemas, esos grandes temas de los 60 que la hicieron grande como solista y cantando junto con Ike &amp; Tina, Rod Stewart o bandas como Small Faces tan malditas en los 60 como hoy admiradas. Esto ocurrira el 30 de Julio en Gijón dentro del Euroyeyé ’04 y el 22 de Agosto en Inglaterra en el Margate Mod Rally. Por su abierta sexualidad, Betty Boop tuvo mucho éxito en el cine. Aunque esa sexualidad se suavizó durante los años 1930, ella permanece con la misma popularidad hoy.<br /><br />Betty Boop fue el primer dibujo animado flapper. Hizo su primera aparición el 9 de agosto de 1930, en el dibujo animado Dizzy Dishes, en la sexta entrega de las Fleischer's Talkartoon series. Era pequeña como su personaje que pronto sería famoso. Grim Natwick, un animador veterano de los estudios de Walt Disney y Ub Iwerks, fue principalmente el responsable de crear el personaje animado, modelado en base a la figura de Helen Kane, cantante y actriz estadounidense contratada por Paramount Pictures, el estudio que distribuía los dibujos animados de Max Fleischer. Siguiendo la práctica común, Grim Natwick hizo un nuevo personaje animal, en este caso, su nuevo personaje animado era un perro caniche francés. Empezando con este dibujo animado, la voz del personaje fue representada por varias actrices de voces diferentes hasta que Mae Questel consiguiera el papel, en 1931, y lo mantuvo por el resto de la serie.<br /><br />El propio Natwick reconoció después que el aspecto original de Betty Boop era bastante feo. El animador la rediseñó en 1932 para ser reconociblemente humana en el dibujo animado Any Rags. Sus orejas de perro caniche de lanas blandas se volvieron pendientes en forma de aro, y su piel de perro se volvió un corte del cabello del cogote. Aparecía en diez dibujos animados como un personajes de apoyo, una chica flapper con más corazón que inteligencia. En sus dibujos animados propios se llamó "Nancy Lee" y "Nan McGrew". Normalmente sirvió como la estrella de estudio, "novia" del personaje de Bimbo. No se bautizó oficialmente hasta el corto de 1932 Stopping the Show. Auque la propia canción puede haber llevado al bautizo final de Betty, cualquier referencia con Betty Co-ed ha sido un error (El sitio web oficial de Betty Boop describe el personaje mencionado como un prototipo de Betty). En total, había doce dibujos animados de Screen Songs que ofrecieron a Betty Boop o por lo menos un personaje similar.<br /><br />El desarrollo de Betty todavía estaba incompleto, sin embargo. El hermano de Max Fleischer, Dave, alteró el personaje aún más, haciendola más sensual y más femenina. La famosa personalidad de Betty entró finalmente en el corto de 1932, Minnie the Moocher, donde Cab Calloway y su orquesta prestaron sus talentos. En la película, Betty corre sola fuera de sus padres arriesgandose a perderse con Bimbo en una cueva por una morsa (Rotoscopio de Calloway). El número musical asustadizo del Fantasma impide a Betty huir hacia la seguridad de casa. Otros personajes femeninos del mismo periodo mostraron su ropa íntima regularmente, como Minnie Mouse, pero no tenían forma completa de mujer. Betty Boop, sin embargo, reveló su sexualidad. Llevaba vestido corto y liguero. Tenía pecho prominente y enseñaba el escote. En sus caricaturas, otros personajes intentaban espiarla mientras se cambiaba. En Betty Boop's Bamboo Isle, baila el hula llevando únicamente un lei (collar de flores) y una falda hawaiana. Kane perdió el juicio (y su boop-opp-a-doop) cuando Fleichers probó que la frase ya había sido usada antes de Kane.<br /><br />Las caricaturas de Betty Boop volvieron a triunfar cuando U.M.&M. T.V. Corp. y más tarde National Telefilm Associates (NTA) las repusieron en la televisión durante los 50. Alteraron el principio y el final de los capítulos quitando el logo de la Paramount. Además, el personaje de Betty Boop y la marca registrada pertenece actualmente al King Features Syndicate y a los estudios Fleischer.<br /><br />La serie de Betty Boop continúa siendo la favorita de muchos críticos y la película de 1933 Snow White (no confundir con Blanca Nieves de Walt Disney de 1937) fue seleccionada por la Biblioteca del Congreso para preservarla en el Registro Nacional de Películas en 1994. Todo ello sin la artificialidad, pretenciosidad y fecha de caducidad de las chicas de Brighton. Puestos a buscar paralelismos, resultaría más acertado señalar a los Camera Obscura de Tracyanne Campbell, con los que comparten no solamente el hecho de tener a una chica al frente del grupo, sino que musicalmente se aprecia una conexión entre ambas bandas. <br /><br />Para ser sólo un álbum de debut ya cuentan con un puñado de buenas canciones: “Add Your Light To Mine”, single adelanto y primer tema del álbum, contiene una pizca de esa magia que convirtió Hitsville USA y la ciudad de Detroit en el centro del mundo durante más de 10 años. “One Kiss Don’t make a Summer” es puro Burt Bacharach, con un estribillo que recuerda a sus antológicas canciones para The Walker Brothers y Dionne Warwick. En “My Brittle Heart”, la elegancia de los arreglos unido a la maravillosa voz de Ali Howard y frases como “Don’t give me a break, I’ve had all the breaks a heart can bear”, la hacen sencillamente desarmante. La canción que da título al álbum completa el poker de ases de esta preciosista carta de presentación, sin querer desmerecer el sincero encanto de “My Darling Anything” y “Lips are Unhappy” o el gancho de unas infecciosas “Get Outta Town” y “Ain’t Never Be Cool”.<br /><br />Lucky Soul van más allá del simple homenaje a la época dorada del pop para entregarnos una lujosa y elegante colección de canciones.
